Privacy policy
Deserter does not share personal information with third parties. We do not store information we collect about your visit to this site for use, other than to analyse content performance through the use of cookies, which you can turn off at anytime by modifying your Internet browser’s settings.
We are not responsible for the republishing of the content found on this blog on other web sites or media without our permission.
Mailing List
Our email newsletter is managed through Mailchimp (privacy policy) and requires an active opt-in to subscribe. Under the GDPR (General Data Protection Registration) we use the ‘consent lawful’ basis for anyone subscribing to our newsletter or marketing mailing list. Any email marketing messages we send are done so through an EMS (Email Marketing Service) provider. An EMS is a third party service provider of software / applications that allows us to send out emails to a list of users.
The only data that we hold about you is the data you provide to Mailchimp – your email address. This data is held and processed on our behalf by Mailchimp – we never download it and do not share it with anyone else.
Emails that we send may contain tracking beacons / tracked clickable links or similar server technologies in order to track subscriber activity within the emails. Where used, such marketing messages may record a range of data such as times, dates, I.P addresses, opens, clicks, forwards, geographic and demographic data. Such data, within its limitations, will show the activity each subscriber made for that email campaign.
Any emails we send are in accordance with the GDPR: We provide you with an easy method to withdraw your consent (unsubscribe): An ‘unsubscribe’ link can be found in every newsletter sent.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. This blog uses standard services from Google Analytics (privacy policy) and WordPress (privacy policy) to collect anonymous information about users’ activity, such as the number of users viewing pages on the site and how long they spend on each page. We cannot access any personally identifiable information from this data.
Teespring
We sell products through an external company, Teespring (privacy policy). We have access to customer orders via the Teespring website. We don’t use customer data for anything else and we do not share email address collected there.
Comments
Comments on Deserter posts are managed by WordPress plug-in, Disqus (privacy policy). We ask visitors who comment on our blog to log in via Disqus, Facebook, Twitter or Google, all of of whom have their own privacy policies. Log in provides us with a username and email address. An IP is automatically recorded against each comment. This information is held against each comment in the database indefinitely as a standard function of WordPress.
The username provided need not be personally identifying – that is up to you.
